Active 20-30 provides adults between the ages of 20 and 39 with an opportunity for personal growth, friendships and leadership development while improving the quality of life for the special needs children in our communities.

Active 20-30 members come from all professions and walks of life. Our organization differs from many service organizations because we not only raise money for children's charities but also encourage "hands on" interaction. This active participation serves to solidify our relationships with those we serve, maintains motivation, and produces a degree of personal satisfaction.

The club consists of young women from the Greater Sacramento area who volunteer their time and money for charities which benefit Sacramento's underprivileged youth. Geographically, we sponsor the Greater Sacramento (five county) area. We are a non-profit 501 (c) 3 organization.

The Active 20-30 Club of Greater Sacramento #1032 has been helping children in the Sacramento community since 1940 as an auxiliary of the Sacramento Men’s Club. Originally known as “The 20/30-ettes”, our members – who were required to be married to a member of the Men’s club - met to play bridge and enjoy each other’s company while their husbands participated in Active 20/30 events. Our members were also always available to assist any projects hosted by the Men’s Club. As the decades passed, the ladies decided that they too would focus their time and energy towards the needy children in our community and our members created their own events. Our club has tried several different events like Chili Cook-off and Taste of the City before we settled on two events that have become our signature events – Monte Carlo and Crab Feed. Our requirements for membership have also changed with the times and we welcome anyone with the devotion and dedication to help the needy children in our community. In 1991, The 20/30-ettes formally chartered as an Active 20/30 club, changing their name to Greater Sacramento #1032.

Greater Sacramento #1032 has implemented:

In 1922, two organizations were formed - the Active International in Aberdeen, Washington and the 20-30 Club in Sacramento, California. In 1962, these two organizations merged to become Active 20-30 International. Active 20-30 International has grown to include clubs in Canada, Columbia, Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, El Salvador, Guatamala, Mexico, Panama and the United States.

Active 20-30 International is also one of the founding members of WOCO - World Council of Young Service Clubs. Our involvement with WOCO provides our members with excellent opportunities to travel around the world and form lasting friendships with other young adults from organization such as Round Table International, APEX International, JECC and CREST. Our organization also has strong ties to Kin Clubs of Canada. All these organizations have similar operational principles.

THE OBJECTIVES

OBLIGATIONS OF EACH CLUB

In accepting an Active 20-30 Club and issuing a charter, the Active 20-30 United States & Canada vests in that club all rights, privileges and authority of an affiliated Active 20-30 Club and by the acceptance of a charter has assumed all obligations imposed by the National Bylaws and National Policies. These may be briefly summarized:

WHY A NATIONAL ASSOCIATION?

In the beginning, there was but one club and it operated much as it pleased because it was just a local proposition. However, as Active 20-30 began to expand and the number of clubs increased, it was necessary to form some kind of central controlling body for the following purposes:

WHAT IS A NATIONAL ASSOCIATION?

Each year at the annual convention, club delegates elect officers who adopt or reject throughout the following year various laws and policies for the general welfare of Active 20-30 United States & Canada.. Thus, the National Association is no a superior body which dictates to the club, but is the machinery set up to carry our the wishes and desires to each club and every member. The National Association is not a body forced upon each club; it is the correlation of the force and power of all Active 20-30 Clubs and their members.

THE NATIONAL OFFICE

Active 20-30 United States & Canada maintains a National Office in Sacramento, California, through which the affairs of the National organization are administered by an Executive Director.
