In celebration and recognizing the
completion of 85 years of volunteer service, Active 20-30 USA and
Active 20-30 International have received President George W. Bush’s
national “President’s
Volunteer Service Award,” and has been named the national, “Daily
Point of Light,” for Friday, April 25, 2008 (which is also “Global
Youth Service Day”) by the Points of Light Foundation.
In addition to the President’s and national Points of Light honors,
United States Senator Dianne Feinstein(D-CA) and United States
Representative Doris Matsui (CA-05) have also awarded Active 20-30
USA and Active 20-30 International with Congressional Records,
honoring Active 20-30 (which originated in Sacramento, California in
1922), as the “Original Global Youth Service Organization” on
“Global Youth Service Day.” Finally, California’s Secretary of
Service and Volunteering, Karen Baker, plans to personally present
Active 20-30 members with a California State Accommodation, as well
as a recognition letter from California First Lady Maria Shriver,
during an Active 20-30 playground Ribbon- Cutting event in West
Sacramento on April 25.
